2010 MAZDA6 Safety
- Advanced air bags
- In addition to advanced dual front air bags, side air bags are installed in the front seats, prividing greater protection in the hip and chest areas during a side impact. Side air curtains also help protect the head in side-impact collisions. With a total of six air bags throughout the cabin, optimum safety is standard on the 2010 MAZDA6
- Standard advanced front air bags
- Standard front seat-mounted side-impact air bags
- Standard front and rear side-impact air curtains
- Always wear your seat belt and secure children in the rear seat in appropriate child restraints.
- 5-Star Safety Rating
- The absolute best. It's what Mazda aimed for and it's what the 2010 MAZDA6 earned - the highest possible government crash-test rating.
- 5-Star government frontal-impact, side-impact and rollover-crash-test rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
- Government star ratings are part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA's) New Car Assessment Program (www.safercar.gov). Vehicle tested with standard side-impact air bags (SABs).
- The absolute best. It's what Mazda aimed for and it's what the 2010 MAZDA6 earned - the highest possible government crash-test rating.
- Active Safety Features
- Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) helps keep the vehicle on its intended path in corners while the Traction Control System (TCS) helps provide enhanced acceleration in less than ideal weather conditions like rain or snow. Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) helps you maintain steering control during heavy braking.
- DSC modulates the engine and brakes when over or understeeri is detected
- TCS detects wheelspin and reduces the throttle to help improve traction
- Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) applies the brakes hundreds of times per second to help prevent wheel lockup
- Dynamic Stability Control (DCS) is an electronic system to help the driver maintain control under adverse conditions. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Factors including speed, road conditions and driver steering input can all affect whether DSC will be effective in preventing loss of control. Please see your Owner's Manual for further details.
- Latch Child-Safety-Seat Anchors
- The well-being of your smallest passengers is critical. LATCH child-safety-seat anchors are directly integrated into the rear seats, allowing for safe and simple installation of up to two LATCH-compatible car seats.
- Convenient LATCH child-safety-seat hooks and tether anchors hold car seats tightly in place
- Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) System
- That's why the available Blind Spot Monitoring System is here to help.
- An icon on the side-view mirrors illuminates when vehicles enter the detection area
- If the turn signal is activated while vehicles are in the detection area, a chime sounds alerting the driver
- Sensors track approximately 12.5 feet from left to right and approximately 26 feet behind the side of the vehicle
- Do not rely completely on the BSM system and be sure to look over your shoulder before changing lanes. The BSM system can assist the driver in confirming the safety of the surrounding but is not a compete subsitute. The driver is responsible for assuring lane changes and other maneuvers. Always pay attention to the direction in which the vehicle is traveling and the vehicle's surroundings. The BSM system does not operate when the vehicle speed is lower than about 20 MPH.
