Family Fun Month in Metro Detroit

Thunder Over Michigan Air Show

On the weekend of August 20-21 at the Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, enjoy an airshow that will include the first-ever appearance of the U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor. This demonstration is famous in the airshow circuit and sure to amaze. The show also includes the U.S. Navy's F/A-18 Super Hornet, which can reach speeds of 700 miles per hour. You’ll also see the restored Batcopter, which was used in Batman movies and the TV show.

Michigan Renaissance Festival

The ever popular Michigan Renaissance Festival attracts more than 250,000 visitors each year and runs for seven weeks on the weekends from August 20-October 2. At the festival, enjoy the 17-acre village, which includes shops, taverns and an enchanting castle. In addition to rides, games and tasty food, you’ll see plenty of medieval entertainment, including themed stage shows and jousting.

Family ‘Mewvie’ Night at Tiny Lions Cat Cafe in Ann Arbor

If you and your family like cats, then visit this fun, new cat café. On August 26 from 7-9 pm, they are holding a family movie night. They invite you to bring snacks, blankets, pillows and sleeping bags for this cat-friendly event.

Noise Permit at Frog Island Park in Ypsilanti

Teens are likely to enjoy this festive free event taking place on August 27 from 2-7 pm. Noise Permit features a performance by teen musicians, who have worked as teen music interns throughout the summer months. The daylong event includes activities, including henna tattoos, and then a stage performance from 5-7.
