Local Apple Orchard and Cider Mills in Metro Detroit

Fall in all of its colorful glory has arrived! One of our favorite aspects at Ralph Thayer Automotive of this exciting time of year is the opportunity to visit and enjoy the bounty at our many local apple orchards and cider mills in Metro Detroit.

Franklin Cider Mill

Savor refreshing apple cider and cinnamon spice donuts when you make a visit to this mill and orchard that dates back to 1837. Franklin Cider Mill features a wide variety of early, midseason and late season apples, including the juicy and tasty Spartan, which makes a great apple crisp, and Gala, which results in delicious apple sauce.

Parshallville Cider Mill

At this historic cider mill, which opened in 1869, they make a wide variety of apple-inspired treats, including cider, caramel apples, spiced donuts and homemade apple pie. Or you can choose your own heirloom apples to snack on or bake wit—including for your own yummy apple cobbler. The mill also offers guided tours during apple season.

Uncle John’s Cider Mill

Once used as a cattle barn, Uncle John’s Cider Mill is now home to fresh cider. Enjoy their Hard Apple Cider while you’re there, or bring home apples to make your own fresh cider. They also carry a wide variety of donuts and feature additional fun activities, such as their pumpkin patch, straw bale maze and wagon rides.

Blake’s Orchard and Cider Mill

One of the first pick-your-own orchards in the area, this mill and apple orchard features hard and fresh-pressed cider, donuts and other bakery items. Enjoy a whole day of adventure here, as they also have family-friendly activities like pony and hayrides and cornfield mazes.

Wiard's Orchards and Country Fair / Cider Mill

At one of the oldest cider mills in Michigan, you have a chance to experience delish cider here, as well as to bring home frozen pies. Even better, try their U-Pick apples, and then bake your own yummy pie from scratch. They also offer family-friendly activities like miniature golf and a corn maze.

Plymouth Orchards and Cider Mill

Winner of the first annual Michigan Apple Cider Contest, Plymouth Orchards and Cider Mill offers cider, donuts, pie and tours of the orchard, including the opportunity to watch fresh apples pressed into cider. Also at the 100-acre farm you can enjoy wagon rides, a pumpkin patch and even see farm animals.

Yates Cider Mill

Possibly one of Metro Detroit's most popular cider mills, Yates has been a big attraction since the 1950's! In just one weekend the mill juices over half a million apples! The kids will enjoy the petting zoo and pony rides while the whole family can enjoy apples, cider, donuts, and the Frankenmuth Fudge Shop! Plus this year is the cider mill's 150th anniversary!
