Ralph Thayer Automotive is pleased to present interesting information about tires. Check it out because tires are important.
Properly maintaining tires involves lots of different things like completing alignments, balancing tires, rotating tires, keeping tires inflated properly, amongst others. All of them are important so learn and follow some basic tire maintenance steps.
A properly aligned vehicle reduces uneven tire wear and increases the longevity of your vehicle's tires. An allignment can also correct a vehicle pulling to the left or right (although aligning worn out tires or tires with uneven tread wear can make a vehicle pull worse). Uneven tire wear, such as worn out tread on the outside of a tire and more tread depth on the inside of a tire is an indication that a vehicle needs an alignment.
Force Limiter Tire Balancer
A Force Limiter Tire Balancer is what we use at Ralph Thayer Automotive in Livonia. This is not equipment that a discount tire store uses.
Regular Tire Rotations
When done at the recommended times, Tire Rotations even out tire wear and help to mainain balanced handling and traction. Tire rotation help even out tire wear by allowing each tire to serve in as many of the vehicle’s wheel positions as possible. Keep in mind, tire rotations won't correct wear problems due to worn mechanical parts or incorrect tire inflation. We recommend rotating your tires every 3,000 to 5,000 miles.
Proper Tire Inflation
Under inflation is the leading cause of tire failure and make them more prone to damage, so don't discount how important it is. Ensure your tire's pressure follow's your vehicle's manufacturer, it could also save you 5 cents per gallon in fuel savings! Be sure to sign up for free monthly email reminders to check your air pressure, if you haven't already.
Some flat tire can be repaired. Typically, a tire could be repaired if there is a puncture within the tire tread area and not near the edge or sidewall. The process for competing a tire repair is simple with the right tools and will last forever. You shouldn't have to replace a tire when it has perfectly good tread becuase a nail found its way into it.
